Street-Legal is one of only around a dozen albums that I have on both vinyl and CD. It's one of my favorites and the one I think of first whenever I want to hear any '70s Dylan. I think most folks prefer Blood on the Tracks or Desire from the '70s, good albums certainly, although as to Desire I think there are better versions of its songs 5/5(37).

UK re-released March – "Street-Legal" by BOB DYLAN on Sony /Columbia 2 (Barcode ) is a straightforward CD Remaster of his 9-Track LP. It was initially reissued September as a CD/SACD Hybrid Dual Format release in a gatefold card digipak (Columbia 6 – Barcode ) but that quickly deleted /5().

Nov 09,  · Street Legal is a downright weird album, and I’m resisting calling it awful, an album filled with cranky songs regrading Dylan’s divorce, infused with a number of wordy Dylanesque epics that seem to go uninterestingly nowhere. And that’s just the concept of the music, his delivery is a total sham, sounding entirely silly/5(2K).

Lyrics A beautiful, comprehensive volume of Dylan’s lyrics, from the beginning of his career through the present day-with the songwriter’s edits to dozens of songs, appearing here for the first time.

Arriving after the twin peaks of Blood on the Tracks and Desire, Street Legal seemed like a disappointment upon its release, and it still seems a little subpar years after its release. Perhaps that's because Bob Dylan was uncertain himself, not just writing a set of songs with no connecting themes, but replacing the sprawl of the Rolling Thunder Revue with a slick, .

Jun 17,  · When it was first released in , Bob Dylan’s Street Legal got a bum rap. One culprit was the sound. Dylan always preferred recording with the whole band playing at once, and whereas with the right producer a wonderful spontaneity could emerge (think “Like a Rolling Stone”), here it just created a muddy mess.
